Mr. Freed’s award-winning plays include Circe & Bravo directed by Harold Pinter starring Faye Dunaway, Veterans Day with Jack Lemmon & Michael Gambon, Inquest directed by Alan Schneider. The Quartered Man. Alfred & Victoria (A Life) , The White Crow, Child of Luck , Is He Still Dead? (with Julie Harris as Nora Joyce) & American Iliad.

Films: Of Love And Shadow starring Antonio Banderas & Jennifer Connelly, Secret Honor, winner of the Berlin Critics Award, directed by Robert Altman starring Philip Baker Hall & Executive Action starring Burt Lancaster.

Books: Spymaster, Killing Time, China Card, Death In Washington: The Murder Of Orlando Letelier.

Donald Freed is a prizewinning historian, dramatist, novelist and the recipient of three Rockefeller Awards, two Louis B Mayer Awards, Unicorn Prize, Gold Medal Award, Berlin Critics Award, NEA award for “Distinguished Writing” & The Hollywood Critics Award.

New works include: Sokrates Must Die, Devil’s Advocate (to be produced on the London stage and for film by Keith Allen), and a new novel, Every Third House.

Mr. Freed's new play, How Shall We Be Saved? Starring Salome Jens and Mitchell Ryan premiered at the Lost Studio in the spring of 2002.

Freed is a Visiting Distinguished Professor at the University Of Southern California, in addition to teaching a Master Class at the Lost Studio for Actors, Directors & Writers.
